Xavier Catholic College is a co-educational P-12 College owned and administered by Brisbane Catholic Education which opened in 2003. We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Officer with a genuine passion for their work to deliver a range of services for the upkeep, maintenance and development of our extensive school grounds. Our College is growing with over 1300 students at present. 

The role holder will be required to work in conjunction with the College Groundskeeper and may from time to time be required to perform tasks in their absence. You will report directly to the Facilities Manager. This is a casual position.

In this role your duties include:

  • General building maintenance across a large campus;
  • Repairs to college property eg. patching holes, hanging whiteboards/TV's, door fixtures, toilet blocks etc.;
  • Managing Maintenance Portal;
  • Plumbing & Sanitary work;
  • Maintain & Repair college camping equipment, trailers etc.;
  • Repair willful damage from break & enters; and
  • Remove graffiti and other duties as required.

The successful candidate will:
  • Have previous experience in a maintenance position, capable of doing general building maintenance to a high standard;
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to unexpected events/tasks;
  • Strong prioritization skills;
  • Ability to work independently & as part of a team when required;
  • Communicate well within a small team environment; and
  • Seek to achieve quality work whilst maintaining the highest level of safety & efficiency.

To be eligible to be considered for this role you will:

  • hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement;
  • be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment; and
  • have a commitment to and understanding of the ethos and traditions of Catholic Education.

Position tenure:  Casual

Weeks worked:  Up to 52 weeks per year including school holidays

Tenure duration (where Fixed Term)

Total Paid Hours (per week) & days required: Monday - Friday as required

Salary level, range or hourly rate: Service Staff Level 2 - $39.69 per hour (casual rate)

Employment conditions: Diocesan Catholic Education Employing Authorities in Queensland Single Interest Agreement
