Job role:      Maintenance Technician

Location:     Trent Acres – Brookfield Centre, Bridgtown, Cannock

Hours:            20 hours per week; Monday to Friday

Salary:        £10.42 per hour

Contract:        Permanent

Are you a Maintenance Technician committed to improving the lives of children and young people?

We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Technician to join our fantastic team at Trent Acres – Brookfield Centre, Bridgtown, Cannock.

Job purpose

To maintain buildings, equipment and plant to the high standards set by the company and external regulators

Key task areas and responsibilities

  • To support the maintenance team in operating the day-to-day response and planned maintenance, refurbishment tasks and repairs for the school
  • To operate a planned system of general maintenance and repairs
  • To maintain the good reputation of the school by ensuring that buildings and equipment have a neat and tidy appearance at all times and are clear of hazards
  • To carry out weekly and monthly checks on heating, fire checks and water and record
  • To assist in emergency evacuations and fire drills at the school and to assist in weekly checks on fire alarms
  • To keep paths, drives and doorways from snow, ice, leaves and debris
  • To report any defects, damage, theft, breakages or hazards to relevant staff
  • To obtain maximum economy and efficiency in all works
  • To ensure all equipment and chemicals are used and handled correctly at all times, in accordance with manufacturer's instructions and COSHH Regulations

About us

Options Trent Acres is a newly opened service and situated on a 12-acre site offering an integrated residential, education and care package for children between 8 and 19 years with a wide range of complex needs, Autism and associated learning disabilities The school is purpose built, modern and welcoming with a range of specialist learning areas including an indoor and outdoor riding school and outdoor gymnasium. Children also have the opportunity to work with our horses, donkeys, goats, alpaca and chickens. 

As part of your role, you may be expected to work across both of our sites Trent Acres and Trent Acres - Brookfield Centre. This is an exciting time to join us as we are currently recruiting due to the expansion of our school, both sites are within close proximity of one another. 

Our service is in within easy reach of Stoke, Derby, Telford, Stafford, Lichfield, Burntwood, Rugeley, Burton-on-Trent, Tamworth, Uttoxeter and surrounding towns. Trent Acres provides a wide ranging curriculum which is tailored to meet the needs of each individual pupil. Pupils are able to work to nationally recognised educational awards in a broad range of subjects. Pupils are able to access Animal Husbandry using our onsite facilities, Horticulture and outdoor activities education. Where appropriate we seek to source work experience placements for pupils. The service also seeks to build links with local schools and colleges which enable us to provide further education opportunities for our pupils.

Many of the young people who come to Options Trent Acres have either experience a fragmented education or have not attended School/ College for a long period of time. Many of our students have a Statement of Special Educational Needs/Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) which will detail and identify their needs.
