A helping hand from you. A head start for them.

We want all our young people to have the best chance of success in life. To make sure that’s the case, you’ll give them extra help when they’re in the classroom. The right support can really make an enormous difference. As a Teaching Assistant at our brand new Luxborough Court School, you have to be understanding and committed. That’s because the young people in our schools have social, emotional, mental health and complex learning needs that call for extra dedication. Help them progress and you’ll have every opportunity to do the same with your career.

The role

As a Teaching Assistant at Luxborough Court School, you’ll be working directly with young people with Autistic Spectrum Disorder in the classroom every day. You’ll help them learn, monitor their work and help raise their self-esteem. It’s not just about academic achievement; we want them to feel accepted and confident in their abilities. You’ll need to be very resilient and dedicated to the wellbeing of our young people. Your support can be invaluable to teachers and young people, which means it’s very rewarding.

Your profile

As an experienced Teaching Assistant already, you should be used to life in the classroom and up to date with welfare and safeguarding practices within Education. You’ll also need to be qualified to at least NVQ level 2 (or equivalent), but what we’re really looking for is the ability to connect. We need you to build great relationships with all our young people, so you can motivate them to do well and be the best that they can be. If you’re emotionally strong and good in a team, we can offer a role with exciting prospects. There are occasional meetings outside school hours, for which your attendance will be required.

Due to the occupational requirements of this role we are only recruiting a Male Teaching Assistant. Gender is considered to be a genuine occupational requirement (GOR) in accordance with paragraph 1 of Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010 for a male worker to work with our pupils.

About us

Luxborough Court School is a brand new modern purpose built school that was completed in 2017. It is registered for 150 pupils aged 5 – 19 with Autistic Spectrum Disorder.

There are approximately 20 classrooms, comprising a mixture of general teaching rooms for all year groups and more specialised science, food tech and DT classrooms. There is a large sports hall with changing facilities and there is a bespoke 6th form suite.

There are a number of other smaller individual spaces used for therapeutic intervention and bespoke support packages.

The School benefits from extensive outdoor space, including an area for the delivery of horticulture.

There is a large central courtyard garden in the centre of the school and separate secondary and junior playgrounds and a fenced off multi-use games area.

There are good public transport connections with Chigwell Station one mile away, providing London Underground Central Line services to central London and other Essex towns. The road links are good and the site is located adjacent to the M11 although access to it is approximately 2.3 miles south at Woodford Junction 4. The M11 links from Cambridge to London.

For children with complex, challenging needs, the level of care and education must go above and beyond. That’s what drives us, here at Witherslack Group. With our high staff-to-child ratio and in-house clinical teams, we’re proud to have won a reputation for excellence and market leading Ofsted ratings. Rewards

We know you’re going to do great things as part of our brilliant team. To say thank you, we offer a salary and benefits package that’s among the best in our sector. In return for your hard work, you’ll enjoy a competitive salary, full school holidays (including bank holidays), contributory pension (matched up to 5%), Life Insurance based on two times your annual base salary, comprehensive induction and ongoing training, Medicash Health Plan/Employee Assistance, and Cycle to Work Scheme. We’ll also cover the cost of your Enhanced DBS check, which is a compulsory part of our recruitment process.
