Job overview

We are seeking a Management Accountant to join our finance team and play a key role in driving financial performance, improving reporting processes, and supporting strategic decision-making.

As a Management Accountant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing financial reports for management and stakeholders, ensuring accurate performance analysis and KPI tracking.
  • Managing month-end reporting, maintaining financial procedures and deadlines.
  • Developing and improving accounting systems and reporting tools.
  • Supporting budget holders with financial insights to aid decision-making.
  • Implementing financial modelling tools for strategic planning.
  • Develop improved balance sheet and cashflow reporting
  • Assisting with commercial projects, including capital investment and business planning.
  • Review and management of financial procedures and controls
  • Preparing annual financial statements, working with auditors and producing other statutory returns

We are looking for a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with strong experience in management and statutory accounting. You should be proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where you can influence financial strategy. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will be working with both finance and non-finance stakeholders to provide clear and insightful financial guidance. Experience in the education or charity sector would be an advantage but is not essential.

This is a full-time office-based position located at the Senior School in Street.

About us

Founded in 1935, Millfield’s vision is to be the world leader for the development of children. There are nearly 1,300 students at the senior school (year 9 to U6), with a 3:1 ratio of boarding to day. Although essentially a rural British school, 20 per cent of Millfield students are international and come from more than 70 countries.

Set in over 100 acres of grounds, Millfield’s size brings great opportunity, and the facilities are unmatched in the UK: an Olympic-sized swimming pool, golf courses, indoor centres for tennis, golf and cricket and an equestrian centre; concert hall, recording studio, theatre, art gallery, hi-tech Science block and outstanding teaching facilities; and high-quality boarding accommodation.

Our aim is to discover brilliance in every child and to immerse them in academic, creative and sporting opportunities to develop this brilliance. We offer an exceptionally wide range of courses and provide multiple pathways through the school to meet the needs of the individual child.

Benefits

You will receive a salary of circa £52,500 per annum (dependent on experience) along with an array of staff benefits, including freshly prepared lunches for a nominal fee of just £10 per month, generous holiday entitlement, access to the school facilities, and discounts/cashback on high street shops and restaurants through the school’s Employee Assistance Programme.

The modern world is highly competitive and the way we prepare our children for its demands is more important than ever. Young people today are subject to great pressures and it takes strong personalities to avoid the traps that life has lying in wait. Hence a good school must seek to develop confidence and maturity in all its pupils whatever their strengths and weaknesses.

All individuals have different needs and therefore a variety of opportunities must be available to enable each one to achieve success. They must learn to apply themselves to academic work but must also be encouraged to express their other talents.

With its outstanding facilities, a staff:pupil ratio of 1:7.5, an extraordinary range of academic courses and the unrivalled strength of its extra-curricular programme, Millfield strives to achieve all these aims. It also seeks to move with the times whilst maintaining the important traditions of good manners, discipline and respect for others.

We pride ourselves on the richness and diversity of the Millfield experience as well as the friendly atmosphere within our community.
