Job overview

Managing Director, Ark Curriculum Partnerships

This is an exciting opportunity to build a curriculum and professional development organisation with a mission to transform student achievement and understanding through offering schools a range of services and products across a number of core subjects. Ark Curriculum Partnerships brings together four curriculum programmes: Mathematics Mastery, English Mastery, Science Mastery and the Ark Music Programme, along with their combined teams of over 45 staff in total, within Ark – the charity that transforms lives through education. Already partnering with over 550 schools across the UK, including the 38 schools in the Ark network, we are committed to transforming student achievement through the provision of innovative curriculum materials and associated teacher training and development. Having pioneered the mastery approach, our curriculum programmes have seen retention rates of over 90 per cent year on year and been recognised by Ofsted, as well as influencing the adoption by the Department for Education of a mastery approach to teaching mathematics.

We are looking for an exceptional individual to lead Ark Curriculum Partnerships as Managing Director, a new post taking the organisation through a significant change and driving sustainable growth of the operation, with a relevant portfolio of activities that will ultimately influence the way the curriculum is taught in the UK. The Managing Director will provide clear, inspirational leadership to the team, ensuring a consistent focus on priorities, a clear brand, and the appropriate infrastructure to deliver high-quality, sustainable programmes together with a pipeline of new products and funding opportunities. They will develop effective and productive relationships with colleagues across the Ark family of organisations, as well as with a range of stakeholders externally. Advocacy, particularly building relationships with key and diverse educational stakeholders and influencers, will be an important aspect of the role for further developing the organisation’s voice in the national education debate.

The successful candidate will demonstrate confident and visionary leadership skills and the ability to motivate a talented team of experts whilst managing a complex network of relationships as a positive ambassador for Ark Curriculum Partnerships. Most importantly, our Managing Director must bring the acumen to grow and build the organisation and its impact, merging and developing diverse portfolios whilst building a common identity. We are also seeking an evidence-based, collaborative, versatile approach. Whilst the initial focus is on change management and bringing together the four entities into a coherent operation, the appointee must demonstrate passionate alignment with our long-term vision and making a positive impact in education

If you have the skills needed to succeed in this demanding job, and the desire to make a difference to education in the UK, we look forward to hearing from you.
