St Mary’s Calne is a leading independent boarding and day school for girls aged 11-18. St Margaret’s Prep, which is part of the family, is a preparatory school for boys and girls aged 2-11. We are delighted to be accepting applications for the position Marketing and Communications Manager to play a key part in the continued success of our schools.

The Marketing and Communications Manager will oversee all aspects of St Mary’s marketing activity. The post holder will be responsible for developing and delivering outstanding marketing and pupil recruitment and retention strategies at St Mary’s and ensuring that they are aligned with the school’s vision, values and strategic priorities.                                              

The Marketing and Communications Manager will work closely with the Admissions and Development Department at St Mary’s Calne and the Marketing and Admissions Manager at St Margaret’s Prep under the direction of the Director of External Relations to strengthen both schools’ overall standing and reputation with all key stakeholders. They will develop productive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders within the school, playing an active role in the life of this busy boarding school.

Specific duties will include researching, managing and implementing the strategic marketing plans for St Mary’s Calne, utilising the marketing and communications strategy to maximise pupil numbers and pupil retention across the whole school and undertaking regular market and competitor research and analysis to inform plans.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience in a marketing or sales role coupled with experience of high-level networking to build creative and mutually beneficial relationships. They will commercially aware and results driven with good business acumen and be capable of being an ambassador and representing the school at public engagements. Experience in an education setting would be desirable but is not essential.

In return we offer a competitive salary, contributory pension scheme (if eligible - employers contribution 7.5% rising to 10.5% after 5 years, subject to employee contributions), fee remission for daughters educated at St Mary’s Calne and for sons and daughters educated at St Margaret’s Preparatory School, discounted membership of the St Mary’s Calne Sports Centre and complimentary meals during term time.

The post of Marketing Manager is offered on a term time plus 2 holiday working weeks basis working 40 hours per week. The salary offered is dependent on experience but will be in the range of £25,200 - £29,900 (pro-rata) per annum (£30,800 to £36,500 FTE).

About St Mary's Calne

St Mary’s Calne is an independent boarding and day school for girls aged 11-18, a happy, purposeful and flourishing community of around 360 pupils with a 80% to 20% boarding to day ratio.

Founded in 1873, the school has been providing an outstanding education for girls for 150 years, and our alumnae have prominent positions in every profession from the law, politics and medicine to the arts, drama and sport.
