About Children's International School AS

Children’s International School is Østfold’s first private international school. The school provides top quality education to students from 6 to 16 years old through the use of the International Baccalaureate programme. We have international teachers of high standard, which provide the students with excellent teaching in small classes.

Instruction is provided by Norwegian and English speaking teachers. Norwegian and music is taught by Norwegian teachers, while the other subjects are taught by English-speaking teachers.

The school is an official International Baccalaureate school. Both the PYP and the MYP are authorised by the IBO.

The school places great emphasis on proper training from 1st grade. Especially concerning the main subjects Norwegian, English and Mathematics, with an expanded curriculum in these subjects during the first years. This encourages basic skills to develop quickly.

CIS has an educational program of high standard in all theoretical subjects and the school has a good education through the arts program, including music, dance and drama. All students play an instrument, the school has it’s own choir and orchestra, and students regularly attend concerts and performances.

CIS strongly believe that working seriously on creative subjects alongside the theoretical subjects strengthens the student’s development. Recent research also shows that by working with music and dance, children's theoretical knowledge and performance can improve.

The school serves hot lunch and fruit, and has an after-school program with the opportunity for individual instrumental lessons, choir and dance.

The school is easily accessible. An excellent infrastructure services our location, and the public transport by bus and ferry runs regularly.
