El Limonar International School (ELIS) has been providing a high quality bilingual education for Spanish and international students from Early Years to KS5 in the Murcia and Alicante regions, in southern Spain, for close to thirty years. With the appointment of a new Principal in 2012, the Murcia school underwent significant curriculum change in order to ensure that it remains the region’s top International school for the next quarter century and beyond. The Principal was then appointed Executive Principal of both ELIS school sites in 2017, with ELIS Murcia now being led by a Headteacher.

In order to build upon the significant achievements to date, and in preparation for an additional school site due to open in 2020, the Executive Principal is inviting applications for the post of Mathematics (and Computing) Faculty Leader to start on September 1st, 2019. The vacancy exists because the existing, extremely successful Secondary Mathematics Leader is moving on to greater challenges after 16 years working with ELIS. 

This post requires a PGCE-qualified teacher, experienced in the teaching of Maths across KS3 to KS5. Significant experience in preparing students for public examination at A-Level is essential. Maths at ELIS is a particularly strong area of the curriculum: there is a consistent 100% A*- C pass-rate at IGCSE, and A-Level Maths is the most popular option choice for students entering Sixth Form. The post represents a genuine career advancement opportunity for a suitably UK qualified teacher and the successful candidate will build upon their existing experience of leading teams of teachers and driving for ever-higher standards of teaching, learning and academic results. 

As well as meeting the requirements of the general candidate specification, the successful candidate will be highly self-motivated, be passionate about their subject and be very well organised. Training in leading teams and in coaching staff via continued professional development are also seen as fundamental skills for a Faculty Leader at ELIS Murcia. Experience as an Assistant Examiner would be an advantage but is not essential.

Contracts are full time and permanent with remuneration and working conditions that reflect the Spanish national collective bargaining agreement for private education with a significant additional professional responsibility allowance.

Long-listed candidates will be notified and invited to an initial interview by Skype. Final interview will take place either in the UK or in Murcia by arrangement.
