About the Maths Department:  

• Last summer 80% of our Year 11 students achieved grade C or above, as opposed to 64% nationally 

• In Year 7 students are placed into maths sets within half-year populations as a result of their performance in KS2 exams and tests 

• In Year 8 & 9 student are placed into maths sets within their half-year populations as a result of their prior performance 

• Maths lessons throughout KS3 incorporate the fundamental aspects of the National Numeracy Strategy 

• Teaching techniques are varied to ensure interesting lessons and well-motivate students 

• KS4 students working towards the EDEXCEL GCSE in Mathematics.  There is a two tier GCSE structure 

• Year 11 students in the higher attaining sets take the Higher tier (grades 9 to 4)
