Mathematics Teacher in the Middle Years Section

St. Nicholas School is seeking to appoint a mathematics teacher for the secondary section of the Alphaville campus. We are looking for a candidate with m three or more years’ experience and who will enjoy working in a highly stimulating and dynamic international environment. Experience teaching Math in the IB Middle Years Programme and/or Diploma is highly advantageous. There is potential for combining the role with leadership opportunities, including the role of Diploma Coordinator or Head of Department. The Mathematics Department is a small but growing department where teachers value sharing ideas, resources and experiences. St. Nicholas currently offers the full MYP maths curriculum, and will offer Standard and Extended levels from MYP 4/Grade 9 onwards as of August 2022. The MYP program offers a framework that encourages students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world, by integrating the strands of number, algebra, geometry and trigonometry, statistics and probability. Curriculum development is ongoing to reflect the school’s inquiry based philosophy and the science programme is based around innovative school designed units of inquiry which reflect understanding and transfer of knowledge and skills in realistic and meaningful situations. All subject groups work closely together to build interdisciplinary understanding, and collaboration across the STEM subjects as well as other subject areas is encouraged and facilitated. All teachers are expected to contribute to the ECA program and PSHE curriculum in a way that is relevant to their experience and interests.
