Job overview

Are you keen to be part of a collaborative, forward-thinking faculty dedicated to authentic learning? Does beautiful scenery and beachside living appeal to you?

Waihi College is a supportive, community-focused school dedicated to providing a localised curriculum for their 730 co-educational students. You will be joining a settled department of 3 teachers and led by a department head who has also made the move to NZ. From year 9 - 13, you’d have an even spread of classes and be teaching in a park-like environment with excellent facilities.

Benefits:

  • join a settled team of teachers under leadership that highly values career advancement;
  • a beautiful, spacious teaching environment that utilises the surrounding environment;
  • high community engagement and positive relationships with students and staff;

Skills and experience:

  • a Mathematics degree and a recognised school teaching qualification that enables you to teach 13 - 18 year olds;
  • the ability to quickly build strong, positive relationships with students;
  • the ability and/or experience teaching mathematics to senior level;

Waihi College is large enough to offer a well-rounded and highly varied curriculum while small enough for all students to be individually catered for. Providing a holistic educational experience and equipping students with 21st century skills is a focus area for the school. Involvement in academic, cultural, environmental or sporting activities is encouraged to contribute the ethos of educating the whole child.

You may be eligible for a $5000 overseas relocation grant from the Ministry of Education if you take up a teaching position in New Zealand. Now is a great time to come and teach in Aotearoa!
