Who we are:
We are a unique mathematics department with a strong emphasis on teacher development and support. All teachers observe each other, our lessons are not graded and meetings are frequently based on the growth of excellent pedagogy. Recent teacher development opportunities have included courses from NCETM and MEI and include a trip to China to find out more about mastery teaching. With a senior leader, the Head Teacher and Principal teaching mathematics and a Lead Practitioner who takes responsibility for teacher development and supports teaching across the department; we are an extremely well supported and autonomous team. We pride ourselves on excellent practice to support student development. Recent changes have included moving year 7 and 8 to mixed ability and writing our own ‘mastery’ SOW. Our philosophy is that mathematics can and should be enjoyed by all children.
