Maths KS4 Coordinator.

Tes is currently supporting a friendly and supportive secondary academy, based in Birmingham. The school is looking to add a Maths KS4 Coordinator to its progressive and supportive Maths Department ideally starting in September 2021.

The role will include teaching and coordinating the delivery of Mathematics at GCSE across year groups 9 to 11. You will support the Head of Maths to enhance provision and will get the chance to get involved with exciting project work throughout the year. Project work will include revising schemes of work and ensuring the curriculum is engaging to all learners alongside projects that support student attainment, well-being and engagement within the wider school. You’ll also lead by example, supporting learners to achieve to the best of their ability and you’ll enjoy that great feeling when your learners achieve grades beyond their dreams.

“The progress that pupils make in maths at our school consistently places our GCSE cohorts in the top 10% nationally for pupil progress, including in 2019 where progress in maths at the academy was within the top twenty of all schools in the country. This success at GCSE has led to growing numbers of pupils confidently choosing to pursue maths in our sixth form. This role provides the opportunity to build on this success and to lead a continued rise in attainment in maths as we seek to secure genuinely transformational outcomes for all pupils.

The successful candidate will lead the curriculum design, line-management and coaching of colleagues teaching in the key stage.  

Pupils at our school have five maths lessons each week thorough key stage three and four, and this is supplemented by a rigorous and centralised approach to homework. In joining our school, the successful candidate will also be joining the Ark network and collaborating with colleagues in the development and delivery of the trust-wide Maths Mastery curriculum. This research-led, carefully planned and sequenced curriculum has integrated teacher professional development to guide colleagues in securing rapid progress for pupils at every stage of their journey through secondary school mathematics.”

The school expects:

• A UK teaching qualification such as PGCE/PGDE, SCITT, BEd or MEd with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

• a relevant Maths Degree or a related subject

• experience of delivering Maths at GCSE level, pushing and engaging learners to progress within the subject

• a love and passion for education.
