United Learning

United Learning is a large, and growing, group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England.

Our schools work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. Our subject specialists, our Group-wide intranet, our own curriculum and our online learning portal all help us share knowledge and resource, helping to simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance.

As a Group, we can reward our staff better: with good career opportunities, benefits, and ultimately, the satisfaction of helping children to succeed. We invest in our staff wellbeing. It's an ethos we call ‘the best in everyone’.

United Learning is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

All positions are subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

The Role

As Maths Subject Advisor to our growing portfolio of Secondary Academies (40+) you will embody our ethos of bringing out ’the best in everyone’. Leading subject specific improvement work, you will support departments to raise standards and improve progress and attainment, working effectively with our team of existing advisers (in maths and other subjects).

Working collaboratively with Heads of Department and their teams you will make a difference to thousands of students’ lives. Focusing on the quality of teaching and learning from KS3 up to KS5, you will play a vital role in helping departments to build capacity and make sustainable improvements. Carefully diagnosing strengths and weaknesses, you will work closely with subject leaders and teachers to help them follow best practice and achieve their development goals.

About You

To join us, you will need proven experience of teaching, coaching, and shaping strategies for improving outcomes in maths at KS3, KS4 and KS5. Your outstanding subject knowledge is matched by your passion and enthusiasm for communicating it to others. Committed to driving up standards of achievement, you will bring to the role a passion for maths and up-to-date curriculum knowledge, twinned with exceptional relationship building and influencing skills.

Our schools have a national reach, from Carlisle in the North to Bognor Regis on the South Coast. Extensive travel will be required although working from home and supporting schools remotely will also be a key requirement of the role. The need for support in maths is greatest for our northern secondary academies, which are mostly in the north west region and south Yorkshire, and we are therefore hoping to appoint a candidate who can travel easily around these areas. Some national travel will also be needed.
