Job overview

MATHEMATICS TEACHER

Salary: MPS + Fringe

Full time, Permanent

 Required for September 2019

Rickmansworth School is an 11-19 heavily oversubscribed co-educational partially (35%) selective converter academy with 1260 on roll, expanding to 1450 over the next five years. Judged ‘Good’ by Ofsted (November 2017). Staff Development was recognised as an area of excellence by Challenge Partners (March 2018), with 3 staff achieving national finals in last 2 years. Academic results are strong with a GCSE Progress 8 score of +0.25 (sig +ve) and EBacc 40%, whilst at A level almost 50% entries achieved A*-B grades, with 100% students securing first choice destinations.

The School is in a strong, stable financial position. A £3.5m school expansion was completed in September 2018 which included a New Sixth-form centre, 10 additional classrooms, drama theatres and film editing suite. There is an outstanding staff well-being programme which includes a fortnightly well-being period, Childcare vouchers, Flu jabs, Access to the Fitness Suite and swimming pool, Pilates classes, Yoga class, and Free eye tests.

Our students enjoy learning and are a pleasure to teach. We believe every child deserves the best and we aim to achieve excellence in all aspects of school life.

About the Department:

The Mathematics Department is first class with a history of achieving excellent results at GCSE and A-Level. At GCSE almost 40% achieved a grade 7 or above where as at A Level almost 50% achieved grade A* - B with 83% achieving this measure in further Maths.

There are eight members of the department with lots of experience and there is a great team atmosphere.  We work very cohesively to support and develop each other’s practice and share expertise. All classrooms are fully equipped with interactive whiteboards and new textbooks across the Key Stages.  The successful applicant will have their own classroom.

Mathematics and further Mathematics are popular choices in the sixth form with approximately 120 students studying these A Levels, so the ability to teach up to and including Key Stage 5 is essential. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with ambition to come in and contribute significantly to the department’s further successes.
