Maths at Great Barr:
Great Barr Academy provides the perfect environment for an ambitious, driven Maths teacher to refine their practice and to gain in-depth knowledge and experience of strategies for improving progress.
The Department is led by both a former Leading Practitioner in Maths, who is an expert at supporting new teachers in developing their classroom practice, and by Deputy Head Teacher and published author who has written extensively about the craft of teaching Maths.
We aim to ensure that all of our teachers have the skills to confidently lead innovative, focused lessons which promote high levels of engagement and rapid progress. We recognise quality teaching and hard work; one of our current NQTs has just been successful in gaining a first promotion in the school starting in September.
You will be joining a very highly motivated team at an exciting time for our school.
The Candidate:
We invite applications from either established teachers with a track record of teaching consistently ‘good’ and ‘outstanding’ lessons who are looking to continue to develop their experience in a large school, or from potential NQTs who are making good progress in their training. We have an NQT induction programme which has been rated as one of the best in the city.

Fortis Academy is sponsored by Shaw Education Trust. We are based in north Birmingham and have a large, diverse and vibrant community of students. We have a well-established and very successful Sixth Form.
