Birchwood High School is a forward thinking comprehensive school situated in an excellent location with stunning facilities.

We have an excellent maths department who achieve fantastic GCSE and A-Level Results. For example, in 2017, 82% of the Year 11 cohort achieved Level 4+ at GCSE and the Progress 8 score for Maths was +0.38. 

As a Maths teacher you will be committed to delivering high quality learning experiences for all students that will inspire them to achieve the best of their ability.

We are therefore looking to appoint a committed and dynamic practitioner who can join an otherwise fully staffed team to deliver inspirational lessons across all aspects of the Maths curriculum and support our aim to be a great school. 

In order to attract the best  we are delighted to announce a £5000 Birchwood Welcome Pack that will come with appointment to the school – this welcome pack will include a golden hello payment of £2500 and a professional development package of £2500* to ensure your career development is fully supported.

This role is suitable for experienced teachers or NQT candidates where we offer an early start date of 1 July, where appropriate, to enable induction and CPD prior to 1 September.

Birchwood is a successful 11-18 mixed  academy with 1435 students on roll. We are very proud of our school, where students not only leave with strong academic qualifications but also as well-rounded individuals with a sense of responsibility and a willingness to contribute to both the economy and society in general. At Birchwood, we are rightly proud of our 'comprehensive' ethos and inclusive philosophy where the academically gifted achieve top grades at A Level and GCSE, going on in record numbers to Russell Group Universities.  Conversely, those students who need more help are encouraged to progress in a caring and supportive learning environment. As a result, all our school leavers go on to further education or a chosen career with no one contributing to the governments 'not in education, employment or training’ (NEET) statistics.

Ofsted concurred when they inspected the school in June 2019 – the inspection report highlights our inclusive and balanced approach towards education, ensuring that children achieve well but are also supported and cared for effectively, as well as being given excellent opportunities in terms of enrichment, leadership development and extra-curricular activities.
