Job overview

Maths Teacher: St Michael’s Catholic School (Aylesbury Campus)

St Michael’s Catholic School requires a Maths Teacher to join a successful department working on our Aylesbury campus. We seek a well-qualified, enthusiastic teacher who is committed to supporting pupils’ education. This role would suit an Early Career Teacher or someone with experience.

St Michael’s Catholic School is an extremely popular school that consists of two campuses across Bucks. The Aylesbury Satellite school opened in September 2018 to Year 7. A brand new state of the art building opened in September 2019.

Since opening, the campus in Aylesbury has been heavily over-subscribed. Each year the school welcomes pupils from over 30 primary schools across the region.

By September 2022, the original pioneering cohort will enter Year 11. St Michael’s pupils composed the school’s mission statement of “achieve in faith with love as a community”. Young people are entering an increasingly complex world; the leaders of the future will require empathies, attributes and attitudes that will allow them to navigate and thrive in a world characterized by change. Our focus on Gospel values, strong relationships and exceptional pastoral support, provide the bedrock of our work.

At St Michael's you will be fortunate enough to be part of a friendly learning family with modern facilities and caring professional staff. We are determined that St Michael's will be second to none in the quality of its curriculum opportunities, teaching, learning, staff and resources. Our diverse and exciting range of opportunities for enrichment and learning outside the classroom give students the opportunity to grow in a broad range of contexts contributing to the development of happy, confident and ambitious students.

For further information, an application pack or an informal discussion regarding the post, please contact Sam Whitton (Head of School PA) at office-ayls@stmichaelscs.org or call 01494535196 (option 2 – Aylesbury).

St Michael's Catholic School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the DBS.

Closing Date: 15th February 2022

Start Date: April or as soon as possible afterwards.

Values and vision

St Michael’s Catholic School educates its students through the teachings of Christ. The school believes in developing students' spirituality and faith to prepare them for adult life. It also aims to ensure pupils have respect for one another. By praying regularly and worshipping as a collective, children are able to develop a better understanding of the themes throughout the liturgical year.

Ofsted report

“Teaching is usually good and some is outstanding. Teachers have good subject knowledge, present introductions clearly to classes and support students well with their learning. Teachers check on learning regularly in lessons and adapt activities where necessary so progress remains good. Students have positive attitudes to learning and behave well around the school. They say they feel safe in the school and they have a good awareness of how to keep themselves safe in different situations.
