Founded in 1923, Normanhurst School is a co-educational independent school located in the London Borough of Waltham Forest. The school accepts children aged 2 1/2 to 16, and has around 280 pupils in total, making it smaller than the average school of its type. The school is operated by the Oak-Tree Group of Schools, a grouping of a small number of local independent schools. Normanhurst’s site is comprised of older Edwardian buildings, housing a range of modern teaching and recreational facilities, as well as a number of more modern purpose-built teaching areas.

Values and Vision

Normanhurst School runs a high-quality curriculum, making the most of its modern teaching resources. The school seeks to encourage the creativity and nascent talent of its students, and offers a number of extra-curricular clubs and field trips in order to help broaden its students' perspectives. Normanhurst School does not offer post-16 provision, but works hard to ensure that older students in Years 10 and 11 are properly supported with careers and higher-education guidance.

ISI Inspection

“The school is extremely successful in fulfilling its aim to build a happy family environment that cultivates courtesy, respect and responsibility, helps pupils to develop confidence and encourages a desire to contribute to the community. It succeeds well in nurturing academic, creative and sporting skills and helping pupils to develop to the maximum potential. In the EYFS, children make excellent progress as a result of the stimulating provision.”
