Job overview

The Priory School is a vibrant and exciting Church of England comprehensive school. As the newly appointed headteacher, I am inviting exceptional candidates to apply for a position here with us as we work together on our journey to Outstanding.

The school has 811 students including a Sixth Form. We benefit from excellent facilities which are set to improve further due to our expansion programme as student numbers grow. One of two secondary schools in the town of Dorking, we aim to provide inspirational teaching in a caring and supportive environment. Our Christian ethos sets us apart from other schools but we welcome staff and students from all backgrounds.

Full time post preferred but part time flexibility is an option the school will consider.

We are seeking to appoint for September 2017, a suitably qualified, committed and talented Teacher of Mathematics to teach across all key stages including GCSE and Level 2 Further Maths at KS4 and A Level.

The successful candidate should have great enthusiasm and knowledge for the subject and will continue to strive for excellence within the Department and will drive standards of numeracy throughout the school.

In November 2014 Ofsted graded the school ‘Good’ with outstanding features and we were judged as outstanding for SIAMS in December 2015.

About The Priory CofE Voluntary Aided School

The Priory School is a Church of England Voluntary Aided school.

This means that the education that we provide offers more than academic rigour and excellence. Our rates of progress are outstanding; these are enhanced and extended by our school values which are at the heart of everything we do.

The combination of academic challenge and support, the breadth and range of our curriculum and the close links we have locally and with the wider world mean that we are ‘serving our community’ and ‘educating for life in all its fullness’ every day.

We firmly believe that our values of hope, wisdom, dignity and community are meaningful, desirable and relevant foundations on which all young people can start to build their adult lives.

Schools have been set up by the Church of England for more than two centuries with the intention of educating the children of the parish. At The Priory, the vast majority of our students come from local C of E primary schools such as St Paul’s, St Martin’s, St John’s, The Weald and Surrey Hills. In addition we warmly receive students from other Dorking schools such as Powell Corderoy, St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School and North Downs, clearly indicating that we are open and welcoming to students and families of other faiths and of no faith
