Salary: Scale MPS - £32,407 - £43,196 (Suitable for ECT)

Location: The Skills Hub, Falling Lane, UB7 8AB

Working Pattern: Full time, permanent

The Skills Hub is a co-educational Alternative Provision for pupils in the London Borough of Hillingdon who cannot attend mainstream school for a variety of reasons. It currently offers places to pupils aged 11-16, many of whom have been, or are at risk of, permanent exclusion.

It is an exciting time for The Skills Hub we have recently moved into our brand new purpose-built site in the 2022-23 academic year and will expand its intake to 120 pupils aged from 5 to 19. The new Free School will offer extensive dedicated facilities for our primary provision as well as state of the art, science labs and sports facilities.

The ideal candidate

We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic teacher of Maths who can contribute to and join our dynamic and successful school; someone with a real passion for their subject, who teaches engaging lessons and helps all pupils reach their potential.

Are you a qualified Teacher of Maths looking for a full-time role? Are you passionate about your subject and with a determination to provide high quality Maths teaching to Key Stage 3, and 4 pupils? Are you able to prepare pupils often from challenging backgrounds to access a unique set of tools for understanding and changing the world e.g. logical thinking, problem solving skills, and abstract thinking skills? Mathematics plays an important role in everyday life and work in modern Britain. Are you dedicated to delivering quality learning experiences that helps pupils to achieve their academic potential?

If you have a passion for Maths and have experience teaching Maths at Secondary School level in an Alternative Provision this would be an ideal role for you.

We are looking for people to join a highly motivated staff team who are enthused about working with pupils that present with mental health needs and challenging behaviours and can remain calm and non-judgemental when under pressure.

You must be confident teaching Maths up to, and including, GCSE standard. 

The ideal candidate will: 

•    Have UK QTS 

•    Be highly motivated and passionate about teaching and has a  proven track record of delivering high standards with pupils with challenging behaviour in an alternative provision or similar setting

•    Be able to develop, plan and deliver effective and high quality learning experiences to all of our pupils with a collaborative approach to teaching and learning

•    Have a positive attitude. Is both flexible, a good team player and has a good sense of humour

•    Excellent subject knowledge and a willingness to be creative when adapting teaching strategies to ensure specific learning needs and styles are delivered to suit all pupils

•    Be committed to the safeguarding and welfare of young people

•    Have excellent classroom and behaviour management skills 

•    Be determined to provide high levels of teaching

•    Is both flexible, a good team player and has a good sense of humour
