Maths Teacher with & without TLR

This is your chance to join one of the most pioneering schools in the country at an exciting time. We are looking for an inspirational maths teacher to work across A-level and GCSE who is keen to help shape a pioneering maths department. You will make maths come alive for all children and you will work alongside our dynamic team of maths teachers to develop the curriculum and schemes of work. You will analyse student data to identify underachievement and develop intervention strategies to ensure all students make outstanding progress.

You will be able to ground students in the basics of maths, deliver problem-solving projects and contribute to STEM and other cross-curricular projects. You will have the skill to move students seamlessly from the concrete to the abstract and have a strong understanding of global best practice across the age ranges. You will be open to the notion that advancements in new technology mean we may be able to rethink the pedagogy and curriculum of maths. School 21 is an all-through school and your focus will be the secondary phase, with particular emphasis on teaching within our new sixth form, Six 21. Ideally you will be experienced in teaching A-level maths and will have a passion for developing the best practice for this age group.

You will be trained in and develop a range of pedagogies including oracy-rich learning, project based learning, coaching, advanced literacy techniques and using technology effectively in the classroom. English Language is central to the life of School 21, and all teachers are expected to develop reading, writing and speaking skills within their subject. All teachers will also be expected to be a coach to about 13 students, developing their professionalism well-being and confidence. In order to do this effectively, you will be trained as a one to one coach. Our oracy curriculum, teacher toolkit and our collaboration with Cambridge University has resulted in a school filled with purposeful talk and thinking. You will have the chance to shape this exciting area of the school’s culture, along with the ethos and core practices of the sixth form.
