Job overview
We are looking to appoint a Matron for one of our boys’ Boarding Houses in January 2020. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the welfare and well-being of students and the smooth running of the domestic arrangements in the House; this includes liaising with the cleaning department on the management of domestic staff, directly supervising laundry staff and helping to organise functions.
Applicants will need to be able to build excellent relationships with young people, be supportive and caring. The post also calls for good organisational skills, IT literacy, the ability to remain calm under pressure and a flexible approach to duties. A first aid qualification and a full driving license are essential.
Rugby School is an independent boarding school of approximately 800 pupils and 100 full-time members of the teaching staff. Entry for most boys and girls is at 13, chiefly from preparatory schools via the Common Entrance or Scholarship Examination.
