Job overview

We are looking to appoint a resident Matron for a girls’ Boarding House (girls ages 16-18) from the beginning of January 2020. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the welfare and well-being of students and the smooth running of the domestic arrangements in the House; this includes liaising with a Cleaning Supervisor, House Handyman, catering team and taking a lead with organising House functions.

Applicants will need to be able to build excellent relationships with young people, be supportive and caring. The post also calls for good organizational skills, IT literacy, the ability to remain calm under pressure and a flexible approach to duties. A first aid qualification and a full driving license are essential.

The School is an independent full boarding school of approximately 800 pupils and 100 full-time members of the teaching staff. Entry for most boys and girls is at 13, chiefly from preparatory schools via the Common Entrance or Scholarship Examination.
