Wigan & Leigh College are looking to recruit to its successful Engineering Department Mechanical Engineering lecturing posts with salaries up to £33,753 (more for exceptional candidates). The College also offers career progression opportunities.  

The Engineering Department at Wigan & Leigh College has continued to grow and is based at our Engineering Centre of Excellence within the Pagefield Campus, which enjoys state of the art industry recognised equipment and resources across all our engineering disciplines.  

We are looking to recruit innovative and creative engineers who possess excellent industry experience and knowledge. Our Engineering Division delivers both full and part-time courses from Level 1 to Level 7 plus professional updates to meet employer needs.  

We are looking for Mechanical Engineering Lecturers with the ability to deliver education and training over a range of levels and awarding bodies from Level 1 to Levels 3 for both full-time learners and day release apprenticeship programmes. 

Candidates that possess assessor and IV qualifications are desirable, although not essential, as the department actively promotes the professional development of all its staff.  We are looking to recruit Mechanical Engineering Lecturers who can teach across a range of subject areas and levels especially EAL  PEO L2 and EAL L3 Diploma in Engineering Technologies. 

The successful candidates must have experience of delivering both workshop and classroom based units, including portfolio development, the units will include, L2 PEO mandatory units, fitting, turning and engineering maintenance units plus at L3 Communications, Health and Safety, Organisation and Efficiency and Advanced Turning. 

An understanding of both L2/L3 NVQ and Technical Certificates would be an advantage.  Wigan & Leigh College’s philosophy is to deliver outstanding teaching and high levels of achievement and ensure that our students are fully prepared for the world of work and returning learners are updated in line with industry requirements.

Wigan and Leigh College is a further education college in Wigan, Greater Manchester, which has been providing education and training locally for more than 150 years. It employs around 1,000 staff and has a student roll of about 17,000. Further education students can choose the A-level professional honours programme or vocational qualifications such as BTECs. An expanding higher education portfolio of foundation degrees, top-up degrees, higher nationals and certificates is available to adult students of all ages, both full-time and part-time. 

Wigan and Leigh College operates from several sites across the borough: the Parson’s Walk Centre, School for the Arts and Pagefield Centre are in Wigan, close to the town centre. The Image Centre and Leigh College are close to the town centre of Leigh.
