An exciting and high-profile role at Ambitious about Autism for an experienced media and public relations professional, with a passion for using their communications skills to make a difference to the lives of children and young people with autism and their families.
Ambitious about Autism is the national charity for children and young people with autism. We provide services, raise awareness and understanding, campaign and influence policy. Through TreeHouse School, The Rise School and Ambitious College, we provide specialist education and support. Our ambition is to make the ordinary the everyday experience of children and young people with autism.
We’re looking for an enthusiastic, proactive and confident individual with a sharp eye for a story that can raise the profile of autism and Ambitious about Autism. They will lead on the development of the organisational media strategy, as well as individual media plans for projects and campaigns.
The successful candidate will bring first class verbal and written skills and a solid understanding of autism and disability rights. They will be passionate about securing impactful coverage in local, sector and national press. They will be experienced in reacting quickly to the news agenda to ensure we do not miss out on opportunities to raise our profile.
They will be confident in developing relationships with professionals, families and young people who use our services and are connected to the charity and proactive in seizing media opportunities. They will be passionate about building our profile through the use of celebrities and high profile individuals and be assured in sourcing, building and maintaining such relationships.
The role offers the opportunity for the right candidate to develop their strategic communications expertise. Working within a small, collaborative and highly motivated team, they will enjoy a balance of fast paced delivery, along with strategic planning.

About TreeHouse School
TreeHouse School is a non-maintained special school that was founded in 1997. Based in the heart of a thriving community in north London, it educates autistic pupils aged three to 19 from across London and the Home Counties.
Using the Ambitious Approach to education, pupils receive specialist and personalised support through a dedicated transdisciplinary team of qualified teachers, speech therapists, occupational therapists and behaviour specialists.

Our Curriculum:
Our curriculum is tailored to each pupil’s unique qualities, specific needs, and individual starting points. In this way, we can set accurate targets for progress.
In our individualised learning programmes, we assess each pupil extensively and consider their strengths and what they find more challenging. Our curriculum is creative and flexible, using our natural environment to extend pupils’ learning. You are as likely to see maths being practised in the shop, the community or the garden as you are in the classroom. Where appropriate, our curriculum is linked to and, where necessary, differentiated from the National Curriculum’s requirements.
