Medical Safeguarding Officer – Lime Academy Hornbeam, William Morris School 

The Lime Trust is looking for a Medical Safeguarding Officer to join their teaching and learning team. The Lime Trust consists of 8 schools, 4 Special and 4 Primary in Cambridgeshire and North and East London).

This post will be based at Lime Academy Hornbeam a special school in the London Borough of Waltham Forest for children with complex needs, including learning difficulties, physical impairment and sensory impairment, aged 2-19.

The successful candidate will be part of the school team and will provide medical care and support to all learners along with administrative duties associated with the post to include administering routine and emergency medications to learners where and when required.

Candidates should be ambitious and passionate professionals, who will add value to our school in striving to help deliver personalised learning that prepares our pupils for the next stage in their life, and who can: 

  • Liaise with the local authority nursing team to ensure all medication processes, learner care plans, and staff training are up to date and safe
  • Liaise with external medical teams to ensure all medication processes are up to date and safe for each required learner
  • Attend medical reviews, annual reviews and medical meetings for learners
  • Create risk assessments for learners to safely attend school where and when required
  • Manage the safe and effective administration, storage of medical supplies and learner medication
  • Ensure that safe and effective protocols are followed throughout the school for learners who require; moving and handling, dysphagia risk feeding, first aid, various other medical support
  • Ensure all first aid boxes and first aid equipment throughout the school are in date and fit for purpose
  • Work under the direction of SLT
