Here at Bedford Modern School, the welfare and wellbeing of our students is paramount and the successful applicant for this pivotal position will play a vital role in providing a safe, positive environment that students and parents can access for advice and support.

The Mental Health Lead will play a key role in developing and leading the whole school strategy to support student mental health and build resilience as well as having the knowledge and expertise to offer shortterm support and interventions to individual students and families.

Applicants will have excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently and a sound working knowledge of safeguarding. A Professional Mental Health Nursing Qualification with current NMC registration is essential, along with experience of working with young people and their families.

You must have experience of managing a caseload and maintaining accurate records together with an understanding of how external agencies operate and when to utilise their services.

This role would suit a professional whose background is in child and adolescent mental health and who has experience of working with agencies such as CAMHS, Children’s Social Care and Early Help. 

This position is for 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, term-time plus four weeks during the school holidays. You will also need to be available for emergency call out during School closure periods.
