Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic MFL teacher to join our growing MfL faculty. You will have excellent subject knowledge and be able to teach consistently good lessons.  You will be responsible for the quality of resourcing, teaching and learning at Key Stage 3.  

This is an exciting time to be joining Hornchurch High School; our new curriculum model encourages the majority of our students to study an English Baccalaureate curriculum.  Our faculty has received a considerable investment in terms of materials and new buildings, which opened February 2020.  We hope to mirror the expansion of our accommodation with an increase in staffing over the coming months and years.  We were inspected by Ofsted in 2019 and secured a ‘good’ judgement.  Our results have improved consecutively for the past four years and we anticipate that this trend will continue.  We want to recruit a bright and enthusiastic teacher who can help plan and invest in our new curriculum model and ensure that the new faculty grows to embody a key aspect of our curriculum.  

We offer excellent training, exciting links with other school partners and provide opportunities for personal development.  We have a vibrant work place with friendly, supportive colleagues and an excellent work/life balance.  Both NQTs and experienced teachers are welcome to apply.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION – HORNCHURCH HIGH SCHOOL

Hornchurch High School is a popular and successful 11-16 mixed comprehensive, a member of the Partnership Learning Trust. We believe in ‘Excellence for All’. We were formerly called The Albany School but changed our name in September 2018.

Hornchurch High School has an innovative curriculum that ensures students experience a wide range of subjects and opportunities in and outside of the classroom, as well as a new pastoral structure to support our students and their families.  We believe that learning should be engaging and that students should develop as independent learners guided by their teachers. We have new and exciting plans for the near future as we head towards an outstanding judgement from Ofsted.

We take great pride in our relationships with the local community and the other schools and colleges in the area. It is these positive partnerships that enable us to offer our students a variety of educational experiences. We have a rich after school provision for students providing a wide variety of clubs and activities.

Hornchurch High School is a place of learning for all and includes staff as well as students. Continued professional development and training for staff happens on a regular basis with our partner schools. Staff can choose a personalised series of courses to help them develop as individuals which has a positive impact.

Relationships amongst colleagues are pleasant, supportive and good humoured with staff socialising as a body. A great deal of personal commitment has been devoted by colleagues to establishing both the school and individual departments and the resultant pride and sense of achievement are evident in the ethos of the School.
