Your new school

Founded in 1667, The Mirfield Free Grammar has a long-established tradition of success and promotes values such as respect, integrity, teamwork and aspiration. The MFG is a vibrant learning environment; everything we do, every decision we make is focused on the students and how we can inspire them to achieve the very best for themselves both academically and personally.

In Feb 2020, Ofsted judged the school to be 'Good' in all four categories, reflecting the rapid improvements made over the past year across the school.

"A new curriculum in languages is sparking much greater enjoyment in French and Spanish."

"Good progress is being made in increasing numbers in coming years."

"A better curriculum has led to effective learning. Behaviour in class has improved considerably. Staff have high expectations for all pupils."

With excellent commuter links, we are situated just 10 minutes away from the M62 and 20 minutes from the M1.

The role

This is a truly exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and ambitious languages specialist to work as part of the Modern Foreign Languages department at The MFG. You will be instrumental in inspiring and motivating our students. You will play a key role in helping to drive the Academy forward; raising standards and creating outstanding life chances for students.

We are looking to recruit an education professional who is passionate about teaching languages.

Here at The Mirfield Free Grammar, all students study a modern foreign language in either French or Spanish at Key Stage 3, enabling them to gain the skills and knowledge to allow them to continue to GCSE.

It is important to note that we are flexible with a start date for this role; Newly Qualified Teachers will be considered and we offer a supportive NQT programme from September 2020 but we can also offer an earlier start date if the successful candidate were able to start sooner.

As standard, we offer ongoing Continuous Professional Development covering all aspects of teaching, learning and leadership and preparing you for the next phase of your career.

We are confident that new teachers joining our school will feel welcomed from the moment they start their journey with us and we absolutely encourage prospective applicants to visit school prior to applying. This is a truly exciting opportunity for someone who wants to develop their teaching career within a small but very ambitious Multi-Academy Trust.

Closing date – Monday 30th March 2020

The small print
