Teaching Opportunities with Shanghai United International School - China

Shanghai United International School has over a dozen schools in Shanghai, as well as four other schools in locations within mainland China.

Hongqiao Middle School Campus is in enviably close proximity to the city centre of Shanghai. Our purpose-built campus, which opened last school year, will rapidly expand, doubling in size from 430 students in Grade’s 6&7 (ENC Year 7&8) this year, to a total of 730 students in Grades 6+7+8 for the 2022-2023 academic year. We also maintain close links with our Primary and High School campuses.

Hongqiao Middle School is a well-resourced, private school catering to both Chinese and expatriate students. We have a large expatriate teaching body, and the school leadership team is a co-leadership system, comprised of a British Head Teacher and a Chinese Head Teacher.

As a school we pride ourselves on professional development opportunities. We run regular training in P4C, Cambridge and training from other external providers. Our organization also provide two free school places for dependents alongside competitive salary and housing benefits.

We are looking for the an English specialist to join our expanding team.

About Shanghai United International School - Hongqiao Campus

Shanghai is at the centre of the burgeoning developments within Asia. A city of 20m+ which encompasses everything from glittering glass and marble skyscrapers to peasants' shanty-towns. Chinese fruit and vegetable markets stand side-by-side with designer emporiums. Shanghai is the new Hong Kong and it is here that the tectonic plates of East and West, of capitalism and communism, meet. Shanghai affords foreign residents a standard of living which is tempting. Families are safe in a society which is law-abiding and non-confrontational. A few years in Shanghai will change your life....

8000 new foreign workers come to Shanghai every year, and this ensures that international schools enjoy a secure future. SUIS is a Chinese school, enjoying a status which is markedly different to foreign 'national' schools (they are not able to educate Chinese nationals). We do not simply cater for the needs of ex-pats, but serve the full international community. Classrooms are modern and well-equipped. Primary colleagues enjoy a team-teaching approach (with two teachers per classroom). SUIS is presently an IB PYP candidate school at primary level and the secondary campus follows the National Curriculum of England and Wales up to IGCSE.
