The International School of Koje (ISK) is a coeducational international school for children from 3 years old to Year 9 (UK) or Grade 8 (US). Located in the world’s largest shipbuilding city, ISK was first established in 1970s to support expat children’s education then has grown into an independent school. We are an international school accredited by the Ministry of Education of Korea.  We also acquired an IPC accreditation and are working toward to achieve IMYC accreditation during 2016-2017. Position Summary

International School of Koje (ISK) is seeking a well-qualified and experienced Middle school Science teacher to start in August 2017. Experience in preparing and participating in various types of international activities such as STEM Fairs is valued. The school wishes to offer high school classes in the future and so it would be desirable for the candidates to have experience in developing high school programs including IGCSE and possibly the IB Diploma. Knowledge and experience of college counseling would also be desirable / necessary.

Essential qualifications and skills:

  • Fully qualified teacher. Must have a university based teaching qualification and national or state license. Bachelor of Education BEd + Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), or Bachelor's + Post Graduate Certificate in Education + QTS, or similar level of qualifications. 
  • Minimum two years of full time class teaching experience in a similar type of school environment: international school, national school in an English speaking country, or English medium school (not a language academy).
  • Experience with the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), or International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC), or similar types of programmes.
  • Skilled in differentiation – must be able to plan and teach groups with a wide range of ability.
  • High level of understanding of the needs of EAL students in an international school environment.
  • Excellent team working and collaborative skills.    
  • Commitment to school life and co-curricular programmes.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional learning and skills development. 

Desirable:

  • Five or more years of full time class teaching experience.
  • Experience of the IPC or IMYC Assessment for Learning Programme.
  • Experience of the Looking for Learning programme.
  • Previous experience in an international school.
  • EAL or ESL teaching qualification.
  • Special needs qualification or experience working with students with special needs. 
  • Experience with curriculum leadership or development.
  • Advanced skills training or evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • Ability/Qualified to teach both Science and Mathematics.
