Melbury College wish to appoint a talented teacher of English, who can motivate and challenge pupils to unlock their potential. The successful candidate will have the ability to teach their specialist subject to GCSE level and possess an understanding of how to meet the needs of pupils with medical/ mental health issues. 

We are seeking teachers who have a strong commitment to raising standards of teaching and learning and who can promote a positive school culture. 

Melbury College is a partnership that includes: Merton Medical Education Service, Melrose School- Primary and Secondary, Canterbury Campus PRU, Merton Alternative Education Service and the soon to be opened Whatley Campus. 

Merton Medical Education Service provides education for school age students who are medically unable to attend their mainstream school, either in provision or within the community. They also provide reintegration/transition packages back into the mainstream environment or a more specialist setting suited to the student’s needs. 

This post offers an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed teacher to work within a dedicated and successful team. 

The post requires the teacher to plan and deliver suitable education provision for the pupils in Merton Medical Education Service as well as establishing and maintaining partnerships with parent/carers and local services. They will be expected to be a class tutor and to become involved in some extra curricular activities. 

Candidates should have:

• an excellent teaching record

• ability to monitor and review through self-evaluation, report writing and a clear system

       of record keeping

• the ability to build a strong rapport with students 

• keep up to date with current research and developments in pedagogy

• evidence of ability to successfully manage and support pupils with SEMH 

• the ability to plan and deliver outstanding teaching and learning for both individuals

       and small groups with high quality outcomes for all pupils
