Job overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and talented Linguist who is either completing their PGCE or NQT year. The MFL Department here at King Edward’s is very successful and all students take one or two languages at GCSE from a choice of French or Spanish. The department now requires a teacher who can offer both French and Spanish to GCSE and A level, and is prepared to train and support the right candidate to assist those who might need support or development in getting their second language to the standard required to teach A Level. The department also offers various cultural enrichment activities and contributes to the International Schools programme and is keen to speak to candidates able to offer Mandarin or Russian to support our broader language enrichment program.
Although selective and academic in our focus the School’s ethos is centred on the development of the whole child. We are exceptionally fortunate that our committed staff give of their time generously in numerous different ways to share or pursue a passion with our pupils. We have a flourishing debating society; creative writing groups; music; drama and sport are all strong. We are also unusual for a state school in having a large and active CCF who also help to run our Duke of Edinburgh programme. The desire to share a passion or simply get involved in the extra-curricular life of the school will be crucial.
Applications should be made on the school’s application form which can be downloaded from www.kevigs.org and should also include a covering letter and CV. The deadline for applications is Monday 7th February 2022 and interviews will be held in the same week: although the school reserves the right to bring this date forward if it has a suitable field.
