Job overview

Can you make a difference to a child’s education?

Belmont School is an independent SEMH school for boys aged 5 to 18 and is part of the Acorn Care and Education Group which has nine similar schools across the country. Our Victorian school building has been completely refurbished to provide modern classrooms, plus specialist rooms and a fantastic off site Vocational Unit.

Instructor and Assessor in the Motor Vehicle Department.

Salary: £18,000 to £22,000 depending on experience and qualifications.

Please note-This post would be suitable for a qualified mechanic with no experience of working with young people as full training will be provided. A keen attitude and a willingness to learn is much more relevant to this role.

We are looking for an Instructor to work in partnership with the Vocational Coordinator and the partner college to ensure that all Key Stage 3 and 4 learners have high quality learning experiences and are supported to reach their full potentials. The successful candidate will assess and internally verify pupil work and ensure the smooth running of the vocational department and its resources within the Motor Vehicle Course at Belmont School.

You will ensure the needs of SEN pupils are met and ensure the schools strong behaviour structure is fully implemented. The Vocational Instructor is responsible for planning daily sessions to ensure the smooth running of the course, developing new ideas and strategies to ensure all learners are fully engaged with the course.

The ideal candidate will be familiar with City & Guilds 3902 qualification and its delivery structure with the ability to lead and deliver the qualification within our Motor Vehicle Course.

You will be motivated by your belief that every child can achieve and reach their potential. Whilst previous experience of working in an SEN environment would be desirable, the right motivation, personal qualities and levels of resilience are just as important. The successful candidate does not need to be a qualified teacher but will have a TAQA level 3 or equivalent.

If you are looking to join a dedicated team in a school that will welcome your ideas, we want to hear from you.

Acorn Care and Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children and young people in our care. Successful applicants will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
