Multi Trade Trainer Assessor

Continually striving for excellence and a strong Grade 2  College, Wigan & Leigh College is well underway  on its journey to become Outstanding.  With over 9,500 students and a turnover of £30m, the College is in a strong position to continue to move forward and grow.

The College has distinct ambitions to expand its choice of programmes and support the economic transformation of Wigan and the surrounding areas.  As a growing college we are in a strong position to continue to invest in our campuses with the development of state of the art facilities.

The College has created a community that encourages all students to enhance their learning through wider opportunities and support services; to maximise their achievements and secure progression onto further study, apprenticeships and employment.

The College has a dedicated Business Services Team and is in a secure position to grow this provision to continue to meet the needs of the local and regional community.

Wigan & Leigh College is seeking a highly competent and knowledgeable Multi Trade Trainer/Assessor, specifically with strengths in Brickwork and Painting and Decorating to join our Apprenticeship Team, to help us deliver outstanding training and assessment to a variety of apprentices.

We are looking for candidates who have had experience in working within a multi trade industrial environment and have specific experience and sector specific qualifications at Level 3 in both Brickwork and Painting and Decorating.

The successful candidate will be required to carry out workplace assessments, reviews and set action plans for apprentices, including SMART Targets and deliver on professional qualifications at Levels 2&3 including the embedding of Functional Skills. They’ll be capable of sharing their knowledge with our apprentices in an engaging and informative manner that demonstrates their passion for the subject.

The role will also include IQA duties within an existing team and developing the College’s offer in conjunction with employer partners and awarding bodies.

Suitable candidates will hold a recognised assessment qualification (TAQA, A1, V1 or equivalent), and ideally be confident in all aspects of workplace assessment. Teaching experience is desirable, but we are looking for someone with the confidence to share their experience and knowledge with our learners.

The College reserves the right to interview for this post should we receive suitable candidates prior to the closing date.

To comply with legislation, you are required to obtain a DBS check for your role. We will be asking Protocol National Ltd/Esafeguarding Ltd to undertake this process on our behalf.

Wigan and Leigh college is an equal opportunities employer and positively encourages applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates regardless of sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religion or belief, marital status, or pregnancy and maternity.
