Kent College West Cairo is an extension to the Kent College Family of Schools.

The school is  fully managed and operated by its founding school in the UK that has been running for more than 130 years in UK Kent, 2016 in Dubai and opened in Hong Kong in 2020.

We are proud to be an inclusive school. In addition to that the school will be fully designed to incorporate spaces for STEAM based learning.

The school is located in O West Compound in the heart of 6th of October City. 

We will start operating in September 2022, accepting pupils from FS1 to YR6

Kent College West Cairo is seeking to appoint a well-qualified, innovative, Teacher of performing arts to join the family of schools in Cairo –Egypt

He/she will have an instrumental specialism and a proportion of the post will involve a number of hours of instrumental teaching. He/she will to further develop Kent College’s outstanding reputation for instrumental performance and will involve the instigation of instrumental outreach projects. The successful candidate will assume responsibility for the day to day organisation of the department’s instrumental teaching programme and the post will involve the coaching and direction of both chamber groups and large instrumental ensembles. The ability to accompany pupils and a willingness to assist with aural test practice and preparation for Music Theory examinations would also be an advantage. 


The Teacher of Music will be a well-qualified and experienced musician with a specialism on a particular instrument. He/she will specifically be expected to demonstrate:

● experience as a first-rate instrumental teacher and performer 

● the ability to command respect from pupils, parents and colleagues; 

● excellent interpersonal skills;

General Duties: 

Carrying out ‘the duties of a school teacher’ as set out in the staff contract

Specific Duties: 

• The successful applicant for this post will be expected to carry out the ‘duties of a school teacher’ as set out in the Staff contract 

• contributing to the well-being and development of the school including the supervision of pupils; 

• ensuring that regular assessment of practical and written work takes place, in line with Department policy, including pupil self-assessment, so as to effectively inform teaching and learning; 

• providing information to the Head of Department or Head of Year and other colleagues about the progress of pupils in accordance with school policy and as required 

• enhance the quality of teaching and learning in the foundation stage and wider school through; 

• sharing resources and good practice, lesson observation, collaborative teaching, mentoring and active participation in continuing professional development; 

• support the school’s aims and objectives for teaching and learning

Education / Qualifications

- Bachelor Degree

- Valid teaching certification IPGCE/ PGCE

- PhD / Master’s degree in Education  ( Desirable)

Experience: 

Not less than 3 years of teaching experience

Teaching and Learning: 

- Confident and innovative classroom teaching. 

- Make accurate and productive use of assessment data with students. 

- Passion for teaching and learning

- Evidence of excellent progress of students at all levels taught.( desirable )

- Good knowledge and application of up-to-date learning technologies.( desirable )
