Job overview

Fixed Term Appointment – 23 Months – Due to school closure

Vacancy: 1546915

Aspire to travel but still wish to continue teaching? Fancy an experience abroad but don’t want to come out of the British education system or Teacher’s Pension scheme? Near retirement and fancy going out of teaching with a bang? Whatever your ambitions, working at King’s School could be the key.

We are a ‘good’ comprehensive (Ofsted January 2015) secondary school, serving the military community in Gutersloh, Germany. We follow the English national curriculum, the Teacher’s Pension Scheme and UK school holidays and keep in constant contact with UK schools to ensure we are always up to date with current trends and legislation. However, unlike many UK comprehensive schools, we are generously funded and resourced, have much smaller class sizes, ‘Outstanding’ behaviour and safety and access to a wealth of fantastic CPD opportunities, such as NPQ and Olevi programmes.

On top of that, our location is superb. Germany itself has a vast array of experiences on offer: from wacky Karneval processions in Cologne, to Oktoberfest celebrations in Munich and of course the infamous Christmas markets! Neighbouring an impressive 9 countries, there is scope to easily travel beyond Germany and see the best of Europe at your fingertips. As a teacher at King’s School, you will be entitled to free accommodation for the first five years of your MOD employment overseas with subsidised utilities and tax free allowances meaning extensive travelling won’t break the bank either. Furthermore, you will be entitled to a paid annual return flight to the UK after first having completed 12 months in post.

We are seeking an inspirational and dynamic teacher to join our Music department. You will be joining a Creative and Visual Arts faculty, also including Art, Dance, Drama, and Hair and Beauty, which has already secured outstanding results for many years and which works together to secure the best possible outcomes for our students. In addition, you will support the Gutersloh Music Centre (GMC) with its fantastic delivery of music lessons to children of all ages across British Forces Germany, supporting their Saturday morning ensemble (to which TOIL in the week will be awarded).

You must have a UK recognised teaching qualification.

Closing Date: 24hrs (GMT) 9th July 2017

Interviews will be held at King’s School, Gutersloh, Germany.

You must register/log in to Civil Service Jobs (CSJ) to view this vacancy.
