Job overview

Quintin Kynaston Academy is a large 11-18 secondary school with a thriving sixth form located in St John's Wood. The school joins the Harris Federation as a sponsored academy in September 2017. Although located in an affluent area of London, the school serves an urban, highly multi-ethnic and disadvantaged intake. If you want to make a real difference to needy young people, and be supported to do so through great training and development as well as unrivalled progression opportunities, then joining this new Harris academy could be for you.

We are looking for a committed teacher with a real passion for Music and vibrant enthusiasm to work with our brilliant students.

We are striving for excellence in Ambition, Achievement and Attitude. We are transforming an academy as we work towards outstanding performance in all areas.

This position is open to NQTs and experienced teachers. You will receive the excellent support of an internal academy CPD programme but also externally across the Federation, joining a very positive, willing and committed team who will challenge and support you.

There are excellent opportunities for career progression within the school and across the Harris Federation.  The Federation has an excellent reputation for transforming student lives with an increasing number of outstanding academies.

Why work at our academy?

  • An opportunity to join an ambitious new academy at the heart of the local community, working with experienced and inspirational leaders towards an outstanding future
  • We combine the traditional values of good manners, strong discipline and respect with excellent teaching
  • Generous Harris benefits package and excellent opportunities for personal and professional development

For NQTs, we provide our highly successful Harris Federation NQT programme where you will train alongside other NQTs from across the Federation. This enables aspiring teachers to support and learn from each other, in the true collaborative spirit of Harris. There is a structure of support and challenge with customised professional learning, and every NQT has a professional mentor.

The Harris Federation is a not-for-profit educational charity with almost 25 years of education experience in and around London. Our primary, secondary, all-through and sixth form academies have an international reputation for delivering a step change in education standards.

In joining a Harris Academy, you will be working with some of the country’s most exceptional teachers, support staff and leaders. There are frequent opportunities for internal exchange and promotion; our CPD is regularly described as Outstanding; and we have a package of staff benefits that rivals the most competitive of other professions.

Each Harris Academy is led and run by its senior leaders and has its own curriculum and way of doing things. What our Academies share, however, is a commitment to giving their children and teenagers an excellent education within a happy, caring and supportive environment.

There are Harris Academies in many different settings – inner city and suburban – but they are all within a maximum ninety minute commute from each other. This enables a highly collaborative structure, with on-call support from the Harris Federation.

You can find out more on our website (www.harrisfederation.org.uk) or by following us on Twitter (@HarrisFed).
