Music Teacher

The British International School Abu Dhabi is looking to appoint a Music Teacher to join a well-established, supportive team in a highly successful and expanding school.

About You    

You will be a teacher who is passionate about their profession and seeks continuous improvement. You will have strong experience of the UK national curriculum; further experience of international education will be an added advantage.

You will be an excellent communicator who will work well with all members of the community. You will have a strong focus on being the best teacher you can be and will also participate fully in the extra-curricular aspects of school life. You will be responsible for encouraging and developing further our culture of inspiration, enjoyment and success. Keen to collaborate and share your specialist expertise, you will have good interpersonal skills and the ability and confidence to build strong working relationships. The flexibility and open-mindedness to adapt quickly to a fast-paced international environment are essential.

You will have a degree in music, Qualified Teacher status and a minimum of 3 years teaching experience.  You will also have an in depth knowledge of the current English national curriculum and associated assessment methods.

About the Role

The Music Department follows the UK National Curriculum up to IGCSE and is aiming to offer Music within the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme in future years. The Music Department covers the whole school and the appointee will be expected to teach Music within the Primary school.  A  particular passion and focus for inspiring children in Early Years and lower Primary is essential.

There is an extensive programme of choral and instrumental activities. The Music Teacher will also be involved in expanding our curriculum and extra-curricular activities as part of our Partnership with the Juilliard School of Performing Arts. It is essential that the appointee maintains a collaborative approach to supporting other Performing Arts colleagues and contributing to the team as a whole.

Selection Process

Applicants should submit a CV, letter of application and the details of two professional referees, one of which should be your current Head Teacher/Principal.

The closing date for application is 29th October 2017. Interviews will be conducted by Skype or in person, where possible.

The start date is January 2018.
