Music Teacher

Mayfield Preparatory School is a highly successful over-subscribed selective Independent School (IAPS) with over 200 boys and girls, aged 2 - 11 years. It features small classes, excellent behaviour and a happy, family atmosphere.

Would you like the freedom to be inspirational with your own ideas? We seek an appropriately qualified, enthusiastic teacher, with experience of teaching in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, and if possible in EYFS.

The postholder will be required to teach Music lessons to classes from Nursery to Year 6. Responsibilities will include: organising whole school musical events such as concerts, Harvest Festival, Carol Service, Music Festivals, etc.; oversee the provision and timetabling of instrumental lessons provided to pupils by a team of peripatetic teachers; arrange graded instrumental examinations for pupils; record and report pupils’ progress to parents in line with the school’s assessment procedures; and assist the Headmaster in the selection and recruitment of peripatetic music staff. Experience of leading a Music department, or another subject area, would be an advantage. There may be opportunities for the right candidate to lead a subject area or manage a department.
