The role:

The MYP/DP Co-ordinator is to plan and oversee the implementation and management of the program. Through coordination with teachers, administrators, and the IB regional and global office, the coordinator is responsible for the full planning, implementation and delivery of the curriculum. 

• Assume responsibility for the implementation and development of the MYP curriculum within the spirit of the school’s Mission Statement.

• Initiate professional training programs that will enable the teaching staff to successfully introduce and develop MYP in their classrooms.

• Attend weekly grade planning meetings.

• Arrange and lead workshops with colleagues on a regular basis.

• Attend meetings with parents so that they have some understanding of the goals of the MYP.

• Work closely with Arabic-speaking colleagues so that the MYP successfully permeates all classes in these bilingual Arabic-English educational settings.

• Lend support to individual teachers in their classrooms on a weekly basis.

• Advise the Head of Middle School on teaching materials that will be needed by the teachers in order to successfully teach the MYP.

• Liaise with the IBO in arranging workshops for the Middle School.

• Attend regional workshops that have been organized by the IBO, and encourage colleagues to attend regional IB MYP workshops.

• Liaise with the IBO towards the eventual recognition of the Middle School as an official IB MYP member school

• Attend coordination and developmental meetings with the school’s IB PYP Coordinator and IB Diploma Coordinator.

• Work closely with the Head of School in the day-to-day management of the Middle School.

• Support in the Head of Middle School in the development of curriculum, facilities and student safety and educational support.

• Liaise with the teachers in the Arabic-medium and English-medium classes in order to successfully develop a fully bilingual Middle School.

• Help the Head of Middle School to develop a safe environment for the students, an acceptable level of behavioral expectations, a friendly, open and respectful relationship between the students and their parents and the staff, clearly understood lines of appropriate communication between the parents and the school, a working environment  for the teachers where they feel valued and important members of the school community, a strong supportive program for staff in professional development and their personal welfare, an environment where the school’s Mission Statement really does have an impact. 

• Meet regularly with parents and be actively involved in arranging consultation sessions between teachers and the parents.

• Be actively involved in supporting positive initiatives taken by students, parents and colleagues.

• Meet regularly with other administrators in the school.

Requirements: 

• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role

• 3-5 years of solid and demonstrable classroom teaching experience in a well reputed IB curriculum school 

• A certified teaching qualification at degree level, such as Master’s Degree, B.Ed., PGCE, PGDE or equivalent

• The desire to provide outstanding teaching and learning
