We’re looking for a National Care Manager to join Acorn Care and Education. Someone who is committed to the Safeguarding and Care of children and young people would be perfect for this role.

About the Role

The National Care Manager role is a senior strategic management role for a specified region of residential services, providing structured operational support, guidance and expertise. The role is responsible for the strategic development and performance of the Heads of Care, Registered Managers and their services, outside of day to day operational management.

The main focus for the National Care Manager will be on our care model integration, service improvement and people development. You will also be responsible for early intervention and support prior to crisis and ensure all support service delivery is in line with the NFA/Acorn Care & Education’s vision, mission and values.


Who we are looking for

We are looking for someone who has had extensive and successful experience as a senior leader within a children or young person’s care environment. You should have a positive work ethic and have a track record of producing and effective leadership team. The suitable candidate will need to be able to work autonomously with very strong interpersonal skills.

You will have a willingness to travel and be approachable for our team that have a lot of experience working with children and adults with complex needs. As part of this role you will be required to develop the team’s performance and abilities, so good communication skills and the ability to lead and manage strategically are vital.

You should have an extensive knowledge surrounding safeguarding of children and young people, as a main responsibility of the National Care Manager will be ensuring that safeguarding procedures are implemented correctly.  We want someone who places a focus on the positive outcomes of our children and adults and takes responsibility for helping improve the lives of our young people.

While experience of working with children and young people with special educational needs is desirable, excellent leadership skills, the right motivation and personal qualities are just as important.


Essential Criteria

  • Must have experience as a senior leader within children or young person’s care environment.
  • Experience liaising with local authorities.
  • Experience of independent visits and QA processes
  • Experience of leading CPD in care and safeguarding
  • A great understanding of Ofsted/CQC requirements
