Job overview

Cygnet Health Care requires a National SEN Case Co-ordinator to ensure that all students, especially those with Special Educational Needs, receive high quality teaching and learning opportunities and that they make at least expected progress. To do this, the Case Co-ordinator works within the senior management team and advises Head Teachers and staff on how best to support those with SEN.

In addition to management responsibilities, the Case Co-ordinator performs the necessary administrative duties relating to young people with SEN and those undergoing statutory assessment across the four school sites. They will work closely with parents, external professionals, and the MDT at each site, offering professional advice and support.

They are also responsible for maintaining an SEN database for all young people admitted across the four sites, and for creating and maintaining the SEN Registers at each site.

Finally, the Co-ordinator facilitates regular CPD training for staff on Special Educational Needs guidance and legislation (either delivering training themselves, or booking staff onto identified training run by external agencies).

Essential experience/qualifications include:

  • QTS
  • MSc/MEd in Educational Psychology/Special Educational Needs or equivalent
  • strong evidence of a commitment to continuing professional development
  • experience in delivering support strategies as part of Individual Education Plans
  • – experience of completing Education & Health Care Plans and securing funding
  • good track record of planning for individual needs and securing appropriate resourcing
  • experience of working with young people aged 11 – 18

The postholder can be based anywhere within commuting distance of all 4 of our schools (in Bury, Sevenoaks, Sheffield and Woking). They will be required to attend on average 2 different sites per week as well as attending meetings at our Head Office in Central London.

This role allows the postholder to work with many different Local Authorities and get a truly national perspective of Special Educational Needs provision. They will assist in provision development for SEND students across each of the school sites and gain hands-on experience tailoring support packages to meet the needs of the learners. CPD opportunities are available to improve knowledge and skills around SEND. Examples of training offered this year include: Neurodiversity, SLCN, Dyscalculia, and ASD in Girls.

This role provides an opportunity to gain experience working with students with SEMH needs, as well as additional SEND difficulties, and allows the postholder to regularly apply psychological theories in their practice. Past postholders have moved on to study for the Doctorate in Educational Psychology.

The ideal start date will be 29 August 2017 or as soon after as possible to allow for a hand-over.

Interviews will take place in mid-June either at one of the 4 school sites or at our Head Office in Central London.

Cygnet Health Care offers an excellent benefits package which includes contributory pension scheme, free life assurance, a comprehensive employee assistance programme and discount centre, childcare vouchers and paid birthday and anniversary of joining company leave.
