Job overview

Cygnet Health Care is one of the UK's largest independent providers of inpatient mental health care. We provide education services to our tier 4 CAMHs units through three independent special schools at Sheffield (Phoenix School), Bury (Excel and Exceed) and Godden Green (Knole Development Centre). All Cygnet Schools are Dfe registered and rated ‘Good’ or better by OFSTED.

Cygnet Healthcare would like to appoint maternity cover for our National SEN Case co-ordinator, to ensure that all students, especially those with Special Educational Needs, receive high quality teaching and learning opportunities, and that they make at least expected progress. To do this, the Co-ordinator works within the Senior Management Team and advises Head Teachers and staff on how best to support those with SEN.

In addition to management responsibilities, the Case Co-ordinator performs the necessary administrative duties relating to young people with SEN, and those undergoing statutory assessment across the four school sites. They will work closely with parents, external professionals, and the MDT at each site, offering professional advice and support.

They are also responsible for maintaining an SEN database for all young people admitted across the four sites, and for creating and maintaining the SEN Registers at each site.

Finally, the Co-ordinator facilitates regular CPD training for staff on Special Educational Needs guidance and legislation (either delivering training themselves, or booking staff onto identified training run by external agencies).  For the right individual this will be a unique and rewarding position within a forward thinking organisation, and an opportunity to work within a specialist field. If you have the skills and experience we require and you are looking for a new challenge please request an application form today.

This role requires travel between sites and employee can be home, or local school based.

Safeguarding is of the utmost importance at cygnet and we follow safer recruitment practice including calling taking up references after shortlisting and before interviewing.

Cygnet Healthcare has a proven commitment to 'Equality of Opportunity' and actively promotes the welfare and safeguarding of young people.

Successful applicants will be subject to an enhanced check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
