Job overview

Home based with extensive travel in the region plus some national travel

The National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM) is expanding its role, and expanding its team. Following the allocation of substantial new government funding for maths education in all school and college phases, the NCETM needs to fill a range of new posts.

This is a fantastic time to join us as we enter a period of substantial growth and expansion. The NCETM, working alongside, and leading, England’s Maths Hubs, aims to ensure that all teachers of mathematics, in all school and college phases, have access to high quality professional development opportunities so that pupils and students have the best chance of acquiring a deep and lasting understanding of maths.

This full-time role is initially funded until July 2019 with the possibility of extension beyond that date.

The role

We are looking for a Regional Lead, to work in the North of England (based around the Regional Schools Commissioner region), with the gravitas and authority to facilitate a coherent strategy for mathematics improvement in the region and enhance the work of the Maths Hubs Programme. As well as working with Maths Hubs, you will also work with the key stakeholders in the region who seek to improve mathematics education.

As a Regional Lead, you will be responsible for ensuring that Maths Hubs effectively design, deliver and evaluate plans that address the programme’s strategic priorities and will support Maths Hubs in their quest to develop and extend their leadership and management capacity, so they can effectively reach into areas of greatest need.

The successful candidate will work across the North of England including the North East, Cumbria and North Yorkshire and frequent travel around the region will be required.

The person

You will have credible and widely-recognised specialist mathematics professional development and school improvement expertise and deep maths subject knowledge, a record of successful maths teaching and of maths-specific leadership roles.

The organisation

The NCETM is managed by Tribal Group, in partnership with MEI.  The postholder will be employed by Tribal Group, a global educational services company. We offer a friendly and supportive working environment as well as benefits such as pension, private medical insurance, life assurance and a healthcare cash plan.

For a full job description and details of the application procedure, please visit the NCETM’s recruitment page - www.ncetm.org.uk/recruitment

The closing date is Thursday 22 March 2018 at 9.00am. Previous applicants need not reapply.

Interviews will take place on Tuesday 27 March 2018 and will be held in the North of England (exact location to be confirmed).

Please do not hesitate to contact careers@tribalgroup.com if you would like to arrange an informal discussion about the role or have any questions you would like to ask.
