The Danes Educational Trust comprises two schools: St Clement Danes School, an Outstanding school with "World Class" status, and Croxley Danes School, a new secondary school which opened in September 2017 using St Clement Danes as its blueprint. Dr Josephine Valentine was Headteacher of St Clement Danes School for 20 years and is now the Chief Executive Officer of the Danes Educational Trust. She is a National Leader in Education, a DfE Advisor and has oversight of both schools as CEO. Mr Toby Sutherland joined St Clement Danes as Deputy Headteacher in September 2017 taking on the role of Headteacher from January 2018 with responsibility for the day to day leadership of the school. If appointed to a role, you will benefit from working as part of an established and thriving Trust blueprinted on St Clement Danes' exceptional reputation for cutting edge staff development and outstanding outcomes for its students. St Clement Danes was ranked in the top thirty comprehensive schools in the country in 2016 and had its highest ever placing in the Sunday Times Good Schools Guide in 2018. It is regularly placed in the top 5% of schools for both progress and achievement. Career development opportunities abound: St Clement Danes leads the Herts & Bucks Teaching School Alliance so CPD is top notch. As Croxley Danes grows, so will the middle and senior leadership teams, meaning that promotion is a distinct possibility for outstanding Trust employees. The staff team is a happy and stable one; the annual staff flash mobs and Charities Week are a highlight and loved by staff and students alike. The students are capable, concientious and self-motivated learners; have a look at our website's news pages to get a taste of the student experience or follow us on Twitter @SCDSchool. The school is close to beautiful countryside - Google images of the Chess Valley for a taste - and on the Metropolitan and Chiltern Railways lines into London. A few minutes from Jct 18 of the M25, the school is close to towns regularly voted as some of the best places in the UK to live and raise a family and, although an affluent part of the country, there is plenty of affordable housing in nearby Watford and its surroundings. If you choose to apply for a job with the Trust, you will join a happy, successful team whilst making a wise investment in your future career in teaching. We look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you for your interest in St Clement Danes School.

This is an extremely exciting time to join St Clement Danes School and the wider Danes Educational Trust family of schools.  St Clement Danes has reached the end of a 6-year £9 million expansion programme including new Art, Maths, Science, Technology, LRC, PE and Sports facilities as well as significant investment in pastoral provision.  This expansion, allied with the beautiful setting in 47 acres in the Chilterns, an area of outstanding natural beauty, ensures both students and staff experience a first-class learning environment.

With over 1000 applicants for 240 places annually, St Clement Danes School is a popular local choice.  It is partially selective, allocating 10% of places based on musical aptitude and 10% on the basis of an academic test.  When last visited by Ofsted, it was awarded outstanding in every one of the then 31 measures. It has more recently been awarded ‘World Class School’ status, an accolade awarded to schools who have moved ‘beyond outstanding’.

St Clement Danes is a wonderful blend of tradition and adaptation.  We are relentless in the pursuit of excellence in everything we do for students, staff and the wider community.  The key drivers that underpin our vision at St Clement Danes are success for all, character development for all and dignity for all.

St Clement Danes believes diversity makes our school stronger which is why we are a proud equal opportunities employer and encourage all of our staff to bring their authentic selves to work. We believe in fairness in the workplace and we encourage applications from people who identify as Black, Asian and from a Minority Ethnic background, who are underrepresented at the school. We celebrate diversity so that different cultures can thrive, adding to the richness and experience of our community.

We look for talented and committed people and work hard to keep them, helping them to reach their full potential.  In return, we offer an exceptional CPDL programme within the Trust and the opportunity to share best practice within and beyond St Clement Danes and the Trust through our leadership of the St Clement Danes Challenge Partners Hub.

I want St Clement Danes School to continue as a World Class School and as a central part of the local community.  If you share our commitment to the development of every child’s intelligence and character, we want to hear from you. If you choose to apply for a job with the Trust, you will join a happy, successful team whilst making a wise investment in your future career.

If you would like to organise a visit to the school or if you would like to discuss any position in more detail then please contact the Recruitment Team at recruitment@danesedtrust.org.uk.
