The academy is traditional in its approach to discipline and uniform, yet forward thinking and at the cutting edge of curriculum development. We have a very hard working team of teachers and support staff; they provide a caring and welcoming atmosphere for our students. The academy's GCSE results in 2016 place us in the top 2% of schools nationally.

As our academy continues to expand, Harris Academy Morden is looking to engage with committed and inspirational trainees seeking their first post as an NQT, as part of an innovative and highly supportive academy team. We want to hear from trainee teachers who are interested to join one of our high preforming and thriving departments, with vacancies available across a variety of subjects including: Mathematics, English, Science, Drama, Music, History, Geography and Business.

As an NQT, you will follow our highly successful Harris NQT programme, training alongside other NQTs from across the Federation. This enables aspiring teachers to support and learn from each other, in the true collaborative spirit of Harris.

Our NQT induction programme, delivered through our outstanding Harris Federation Teaching School Alliance, aims to welcome new teachers and build their self-confidence in the first few weeks of their career. There is regular contact with other NQTs within and across subject areas, including at our NQT Teaching and Learning conference each September. There is a structure of support and challenge with customised professional learning sessions throughout the year.

Every NQT has a professional mentor who works with you to make sure your training and support needs are met. You will have the opportunity to observe lessons being delivered by experienced teachers. There are also a wide range of additional programmes open to NQTs through the Teaching School Alliance to help you achieve your career ambitions more quickly.

About Harris Academy Morden

School summary

Although Harris Academy Morden opened in September 2012, it builds on more than 20 years of experience within the Harris Federation and an exceptional track record in London education.

At Harris Academy Morden, you will see students who treat each other with care and respect, teachers who are trained and resourced to inspire the best in every class they teach and a highly experienced leadership team with a track record of developing outstanding schools. Everything is in place for Harris Academy Morden to have an outstanding future.

Harris Academy Morden is a modern and innovative Academy. We are a totally inclusive Academy who promote the traditional British and global values of good manners, hard work, excellent behaviour and smart uniform.

We are moving quickly to achieving our goal of ‘Outstanding’ in all categories. To continue our journey to ‘Outstanding’, we are looking for the right people to join our team.

Academy Ethos

The Academy motto is: ‘Courage, Challenge and Success’:

Courage: Students are expected to show resilience and have the determination to persist even when things are difficult. Staff develop this trait over time through high expectations, modelling and our PSHE programme. Students and staff will be encouraged to also ‘do the right thing’ and have the courage to ‘defend the weak’ and ‘speak up’ for what is right and wrong.

Challenge: Students are expected to challenge themselves and have high aspirations. Students must be brave enough to challenge themselves, try new things and embrace the opportunities the Academy will offer during curriculum time and the extensive extra-curricular programme. Students and staff are encouraged to challenge what they know is not true or fair and ‘speak up’.

Success: This is for all students. Success does not come cheaply. Parents and staff must work together with students who demonstrate courage and challenge to ensure that everybody succeeds. We aspire for all of our students to be prepared to succeed in the 21st century, to have the qualifications to open any door and the human conviction to achieve the life that they wish to lead. Students and staff are encouraged to succeed personally but help others to do so as well.
