Non-residential Matron

The Dean Close FoundationGloucestershire

The role

We have an opportunity to join our pastoral team in April 2021.

The matron will be responsible for contributing to the general pastoral and personal welfare of the boarders in the house (boys year 9-13).

It is important that the matron is able to establish a friendly rapport with the pupils to increase the homely feel of the house and to be available as an alternative listening ear whilst upholding the rules of the house and school.

The matron will have a particular duty to ensure that pupils are dealing properly with their own domestic organisation, including tidiness, laundry, health and hygiene, and that shared facilities such as kitchenettes and bathrooms are properly treated (although the cleaning of these areas remains the responsibility of the Housekeeper and her team).

The ideal person will be interested in young people and keen to get to know them well over the course of their school career, but will be willing to take a firm line and insist on proper standards.   All staff have a responsibility to set high standards, lead by example, and work for the good of the whole community and the children in particular.

Exciting plans for future phases to create new teaching spaces for humanities subjects and a new science block are in advanced stages.
