Job overview

E4502

A new opportunity has arisen for an NPTC Assessor and Tutor to join our excellent land-based team based at our Broomfield Hall site with access to over 200 acres of beautiful grounds.  Derby College Farm and Plant unit is a very busy and forward-thinking centre, and the teams are ambitious and proud of their achievements and work environment.

This is a brand-new opportunity within Derby College as we are expanding our NPTC offering due to local demand.  The role is fixed-term for 12 months (from start date) with the potential to extend this based on the success of the programme and number of students.

We are a small, hands-on and extremely hard-working team, striving for excellence at all times, we adopt a professional and industry correct manner and create an environment where the care and promotion of the animals are our primary concern.  Whilst we have guided working hours a willingness to work flexibly is required.

You will be organised and have excellent interpersonal skills together with a commitment to working effectively as part of a team.  Your primary focus will be student facing and ensuring all NPTC courses are run professionally with outstanding results.

While it is desirable that you hold NPTC Assessor qualifications, it is not essential.  As long as you have recent experience within the land-based sector and the relevant skills, we will provide support to help you achieve the formal qualifications.

Examples of benefits you’ll have access to as a Derby College employee include access to the Local Government Pension Scheme, discounts at selected retailers, free eyecare tests and discounted rail travel.

The successful candidate will also be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
